The founder of Multicultural Women Writers of Orange County and author of two books of poetry, Camp Notes and Other Poems and Desert Run: Poems and Stories, Yamada will talk about her father, Jack Kaichiro Yasutake and his Senryu Kai in Seattle, as well as the poetry group he organized during a WWII internment camp in New Mexico, and a senryu group he formed in Chicago after the war.
She will read some of Yasutake's senryu and talk about the great impact her early exposure to poetry has had on her life.
