Ion Codrescu Haiga Exhibition
The Ion Codrescu Haiga Exhibition will be housed on Union College at the Nott Memorial, in the Mandeville Gallery on the Nott's second level. Conference attendees will be able to enjoy Ion's work close-up, and also meet him at an Artist Talk and Opening Reception, also in the Nott, on Thursday, October 15th, 2015, from 5 to 6:30 P.M. The Mandeville's website has a concise introduction to haiga and to Ion's work", including several examples.
[update: see a slideshow of the Codrescu Exhibit here.] The Nott Memorial offers a unique exhibition space: The Mandeville Gallery is on a circular mezzanine or balcony, from which the dome and the two other levels of the 16-sided building can be viewed along with the featured artwork. Click for a peek inside the Nott Memorial. Ion's artistry is featured in each edition of Upstate Dim Sum, the Route 9 Haiku Group's biannual anthology of haiku and senryu. Ion teams with the guest poet of each edition to create an original haiga. |
