BOOK FAIR INSTRUCTIONS & INFORMATION

Book Fair Hours
The Book Fair will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 am -6 pm (October 15-17)

Book Fair Staff:
The Book Fair will be staffed by Linda Singleton (a Union College Bookstore staff person) Tom Clausen and Yu Chang.

Mailing/Shipping books in advance:
Books can be mailed in advance to Hilary Tann at this address:

Nott Memorial (Please hold for collection)
c/o Professor Hilary Tann (HNA 2015)
    Union College, 807 Union Street
    Schenectady, NY 12308

Any books mailed should be sent to be received by Friday October 9th. Books received by that date will be set up on Wednesday, October 14, in the Book Fair sales area on the first floor of the secured Nott Memorial.

Delivering books in person:
Book sellers can deliver books to the Nott Memorial, first floor, during hours the Book Fair is open.

 Access to the Nott Memorial
[See the Campus Map at the bottom of this page to locate the places mentioned.]
The easiest way to get to the Nott Memorial is to enter from Union Street and travel up "Library Lane" to the circle next to Old Chapel.  Unload the books onto a cart, cross South Lane, and wheel them to the basement of the Nott, then take the elevator to the first floor.

Since there's no parking per se on the Old Chapel circle, one person should stay with the vehicle while the books are being moved.

Book Inventory Form:
It is important that the book inventory form be filled out neatly, so that it is legible, and sent well in advance, or brought and presented with the books at the Book Fair.  The book inventory form will be used to tally sales and keep an account for each seller.

Back-up Accounting system:
In order to have a back-up record of each sale, the seller should place either an index card or a 3” x 3” post-it note, with the name of the seller, the title of the item and the price of the book or item, inside the front cover of each book, or securely attached to the cover of sealed books and to all other items.

Tables supplied by Union College:
The tables in the Nott Memorial will be fold out tables (approx. 3' x 7') provided by Union College and will be 'skirted' by Union College book store.

Pick up and Removal of books:
Pick up and removal of all books will take place between 5:00 and 6:00 on Saturday, October 17th.  Remainders which have been mailed will be returned to the publisher at the publisher's expense.

Payment to Sellers:
Shortly after the close of HNA 2015, an accounting of all sales will be made and payment sent to each seller by check from a Union College account, sent through the U. S. Mail.

Your inventory sheet is critical to insure payment can be made appropriately.

Disclaimer:
The HNA 2015  and the Book Fair staff cannot be held responsible for loss of items in shipping, before or after, or during the sale, due to theft or damage.

Refunds and Returns:
There will be absolutely no returns or refunds given for any items purchased at the HNA 2015 Book Fair.

  • Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
