Hueston Woods Haiku Trail Dedication
Sunday, July 2, 2023

Picture
Haiku North America, in conjunction with Ohio State Parks, is sponsoring the permanent installation of a haiku walk at Hueston Woods State Park in College Corner, Ohio (near Cincinnati). This trail will serve as a long-lasting memory of the 2023 HNA conference. Selected poems will be installed by June of 2023 along a newly designated haiku trail (on the site of the park's current Sycamore Trail).

Submissions are now closed, and the Haiku North America board of directors has selected 20 of the poems for inclusion in this installation.

A dedication ceremony for the Haiku Trail will occur on Sunday, July 2, 2023, as a post-conference event. We will board a bus at the Netherland Plaza hotel entrance, promptly at 1:30 p.m., to travel to Heuston Woods State Park. Donated by Patti Niehoff, the trail will present 20 poems, selected by the HNA board, placed along a 0.7-mile woodsy path with views of a stream and lake. After the official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the trail, we will walk the trail and read the poems. This will be followed by a buffet dinner at the Lodge overlooking the lake before we return to the hotel by 7:00 p.m. Attire is very casual. The trail is mostly flat and easy to walk.
This event is available for an additional $85 fee.
