LONG BEACH: The Urban Waterfront Playground

As you arrive to attend Haiku North America 2013, if you've planned some extra time to vacation in or near Long Beach here are a few of the area attractions you may wish to visit.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Home to more than 11,000 marine animals, visitors can get up close and personal with sharks and sea rays in the touch tank in Shark Lagoon and feed colorful mini parrots in Lorikeep Forest. The Aquarium also features a Behind-the-Scenes tour, 3D movies and special animal encounters.

Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos

Step back in time to early California history with a visit to two historic Long Beach ranchos. Stroll through lush gardens, tour spacious adobe houses . . . and don't miss the visitor's center, where you can catch a glimpse into the rancho's exciting past.

The Long Beach Museum of Art

Anchored by a fine craftsman-style home at the end of Bluff Park, the museum features a collection of paintings and drawings of early 20th century European art and California Modernism.

Immerse yourself in Latin America at MoLAA, a Smithsonian affiliate and the only museum in the Western United States dedicated to the work of contemporary Latin artists.
