2025 Transportation Tips

Note: After May 7, 2025, HNA attendees from the United States will be required to use REAL ID for domestic air travel OR use a valid passport (a regular driver’s license will no longer work). For more information, please explore the REAL ID website. If you do not have a passport, and if you will be flying to San Francisco, allow yourself time before your trip to get a REAL ID (usually as an update to your driver’s license).

Here are some tips to help you with your travel to San Francisco and the Haiku North America conference hotel, the Holiday Inn San Francisco - Golden Gate Way, at 1500 Van Ness Avenue San Francisco, California 94109. Front desk: 1-415-441-4000 (do not use this number to be make reservations—use our Conference Hotel reservations page instead).

By Air
Your easy option for flying is the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). From the airport you can take a taxi or ride-share service to the Holiday Inn (about 30 minutes away). The Oakland Airport (OAK) may also be an option, depending on flights, but has fewer options. Taxi or ride-share service will cost $40–60 from SFO and $80 from OAK. Our hotel is about 14 miles from SFO, or 21 miles from OAK. You could also fly to San Jose Airport (SJO), but it’s farther away in the South Bay, so we recommend flying to SFO.

By BART (subway)
From SFO: You can take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transportation) from the airport. Take the Air Train from the domestic terminal to the international terminal. Fare from SFO to San Francisco: $10.55.
From OAK: The BART station is just across the street from the OAK terminal. Take a quick eight-minute train ride from OAK to the Coliseum BART station, which has connecting service to all BART destinations. Fare from OAK to San Francisco: $12.00.

Notes:
  • The BART Trip Planner can help you plan which train you should take.
  • From the Embarcadero Station, take a cable car ($8) or MUNI Bus #1 bus ($3).
  • From the Civic Center station, take MUNI Bus #49 ($3).
  • At a ticket machine at a BART station, you can buy Clipper card to take BART, MUNI, and cable cars. You can also purchase cable car fares in advance using the MuniMobile app, which accepts credit/debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
  • You can also buy single-ride cable car tickets at ticket booths located at Powell and Market, Bay and Taylor, and Hyde and Beach Streets from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
  • The preceding rates are subject to change.

By Car
If you’re driving to the Holiday Inn, set your GPS to 1500 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco. The hotel has limited paid parking for registered guests. Please check the hotel parking information.
