Silent Auction
To help Haiku North America defray conference expenses, we invite you to donate items to our silent auction. Items can be haiku-related, such as haiku books, or anything that you think would be of interest to other conference attendees. Surprise us! As a courtesy, please refrain from donating books by poets or publishers who are likely to be present and might be selling those books themselves. We are grateful for your generosity.
Our silent auction will take place in the Redwood room at our conference hotel (this is the same lockable room as our book fair room). Please deliver your donations between 2:30 to 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, or at any later time when the Redwood room is open. For each item you donate, we ask that you fill out a simple silent auction bidding form with the name of the item and the following optional information: description (is there a story behind your item?), donor's name, and minimum bid. We will have forms available for you in our silent auction room or we encourage you to print out copies of the following PDF file to fill out before you arrive.
If you have questions about the silent auction, please contact our silent auction coordinator, Johnnie Johnson Hafernik, at [email protected].
During the weekend, be sure to check the silent auction tables regularly to bid on items you can't resist, and to see if you need to increase your bid. Silent auction bidding will end at 4:00 p.m on Saturday, September 27. We will provide more instructions on how to pick up and pay for items for which you made the highest bid, chiefly during the banquet. If an item receives no bids, please pick up the item you donated and take it home with you, or it will be donated to charity or discarded.
Please review your haiku books and other belongings to consider donating suitable items to the HNA silent auction. Your donations are tax-deductible in the United States.
