Hello from one your volunteers!

Whether a rare keepsake or just an extra copy, your book donation to the silent auction will make for a richer experience for us all!

Here are just a few of the books haiku poets have donated:

You read about it in the last Frogpond, now get Gary Hotham’s, “Spilled Milk”,  here and support HNA at the same time.

Can’t get enough of our beautiful city?  The sumptuous photographs Seattle Pacific Gem is sure to give you endless ideas for poems.

And for collectors, Redmoon Press has donated a rare hard copy edition of, A String Untouched: Dag Hammarskjöld's Life in Haiku and Photographs

Do you have books you’d like to offer as silent auction items to support the conference?  Please let me know.  Write tracykoretsky at tracykoretsky dot com

The Book Fair has been a wonderful long-standing tradition for the Haiku North America Conference, and with good reason.  This is a great opportunity for haiku poets to share and sell their books!  You might not be able to get that local bookstore on board with your writing, but you can sell at our book fair.  Best of all?  It's free!  All you have to do is show up, set out your books and you'll be pleased to sell some copies of your very best haiku!  HNA is proud to support small publishers who create your books of haiku.

If you have created a book of haiku, please bring some copies to sell.  Any book by YOU would be fantasitc.  Haiku North America does not make any money off this event.  This is purely a way for HNA to support you, small publishers, and the form.  You will have an opportunity to sell your books, and there isn't a lot of work you need to do.  We will also gladly allow you to sell copies of rare haiku or special edition haiku by other authors if you'd like.  However, putting those books as a donation in our Silent Auction would be nice too.  We have a contingent of volunteers that will be running cash registers to collect and distribute money to the proper writers.

If you do not have a book to sell, swing by the Book Fair.  We have designed our Book Fair to be a hub of activity and news during the conference.  It will be the place to be when you're not listening to a speaker or panel discussion.  We have coordinated volunteers to run the show.  We have also been lucky enough to get Park Place Books in Kirkland, WA to supply us with cash registers and credit card swipers!  While cash is always good, we've got the ability to take your cards, which will allow you the freedom to buy more haiku than you might plan to!

Again, our Book Fair is free to participate in- so push yourself and take that risk to bring a book of your haiku to sell!  You might be surprised at how many fans you have!

For those of you locals who will be helping out with HNA-related things...

We implore you to donate some paper bags for our book fair!

Any paper bag that would fit a few books is great.  Many of us use re-usable canvas bags, and it's harder to come by those paper bags!  But if you have a few, they would be welcome at the Book Fair.

See the next blog post for more about the Book Fair
